Blue Coast Records’ Audiophile Acoustic Music To Be Available Via Burnside Distribution

New Agreement Will Place Blue Coast’s SACD/CD
In a Variety of Channels

San Francisco, CA, September 1, 2007 – Blue Coast Records, a label dedicated to preserving and marketing audiophile-quality recordings of acoustic music performed live in the studio, today announced a new distribution agreement with Portland, OR-based Burnside Distribution, a top distributor of independent record labels in the U.S.

“Blue Coast Collection, The E.S.E. Sessions,” will be the first release and highlights the proprietary recording Extended Sound Environment (E.S.E.) process developed by Blue Coast for advanced sonic reproduction with precise detail and accurate imaging.

“Frankly, we weren’t prepared for the incredible success of “Blue Coast Collection’” said Cookie Marenco, Founder and President of Blue Coast. “We sold out the first pressing of 1,000 copies in just six weeks, which is pretty incredible when you consider that it was offered through our web site exclusively with no great fanfare and a $40 price tag. However, we know that music lovers who appreciate true audiophile sound are willing to invest in recordings that touch them, which is why we’re thrilled that such an esteemed distributor of independent artists and labels will get the Blue Coast message out to an even wider base of fans of acoustic music.”

“It’s a thrill to be working with a company like Blue Coast Records,” commented Bill McNally, Vice President/General Manager, Burnside Distribution. “I have worked many years with Cookie Morenco, a remarkably talented woman who, with her staff, has put together a real music lover’s label. The sonic quality of the recordings is unsurpassed. Their music will certainly appeal to music lovers and high-end audio enthusiasts alike. More important, at least to me, is that it’s something I enjoy listening to when I’m in the mood to hear simply beautiful music.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Burnside Distribution will be the distributor of, “Blue Coast Collection, The E.S.E. Sessions,” a 5.1-channel SACD/two-channel CD hybrid disc.

“Blue Coast Collection” is a collection of various artists performing live in the studio without the use of headphones or digital effects that are common in today’s recordings. Blue Coast’s patented Extended Sound Environment (E.S.E.) recording process captures the essence of a performance with remarkable accuracy, communicating the openness and sense of detail that is absent from most CD and even high-resolution audio recordings.

Produced by Marenco and Jean Claude Reynaud, “Blue Coast Collection” features veterans and emerging artists alike, including Keith Greeninger, Tony Furtado, Glen Moore, Rob Ickes, and several others.

Added Marenco: “There was no shortage of opportunities to sign with the big distribution companies, but their specialty is selling entertainment, not necessarily skilled musicianship or audio quality. Bill McNally at Burnside is a maverick in this respect, since he is always there to champion the work of independent artists and labels. You need a real ‘music guy’ like Bill to understand the value of our music while working hard to make sure it’s widely available and promoted.”

Blue Coast Records was founded by Cookie Marenco, a producer/engineer with more than 20 years experience in the development of recording techniques that enhance the listener’s enjoyment. Marenco and Reynaud designed the E.S.E. recording process to accommodate the evolving field of surround audio with an impeccable blend of traditional and new recording technologies.

Alexander Valley Cabernet is chosen for the Blue Coast Collection Private Reserve

The sun was sinking and the fog rolling over the Belmont hills Wednesday night as many Friends of Blue Coast arrived to help us choose a wine for our new Blue Coast Collection Private Reserve, which will be part of the music and wine gift packages we are preparing for this holiday season.

Scott Thompson and Ezra Crowley were on hand early to prepare finger foods to sustain the judges in their night of wine tasting. The Blue Coast Collection (and other records produced by our founder, Cookie Marenco, proved the sonic backdrop as Cookie presided over the ceremonies. Six California varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon from Windsor Vineyards were passed around, discussed and ultimately consumed by the lively and enthusiastic crowd. In the end a variety from the Alexander Valley region of Northern California emerged the winner…

The judges were also asked to help us choose the artwork for the custom label that will adorn bottles of the Blue Coast Collection Private Reserve. Rain Palace, a painting by Simone Raoux, which also graces the cover of the Blue Coast Collection SA-CD, will be featured on the label.

Everyone had a great time, by all accounts, with some staying into the early hours. After the event, Cookie said "Some of the smartest people I know were in that room drinking a lot of wine! There was determination to complete the task at hand—DRINK, DECIDE, DRINK!"

Many thanks to all who attended….
